November 29, 2007

Dear Congressman Reichert:

We are writing to you because you are a co-chair of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Intelligence, Information Sharing, and Terrorism Risk Assessment, and were present at the November 6 Subcommittee hearing.

There is a widespread perception that the official account of the events of 9/11/01 is less than credible. It is by all standards of criminal justice and forensic science, as well as of public health, a very poorly investigated, very poorly mitigated crime against humanity.

Dozens of other credible individuals, organizations and their websites at the national and international levels have called upon the United States Congress for a truly independent investigation with subpoena powers to determine what actually happened on that tragic day in a spontaneous collective reaction now called the 9/11 Truth Movement.

The website www.patriotsquestion911.com, for example, presents over 870 credentialed, credible citizens who question the official account of the events of 9/11/01. This includes over 110 Senior Military, Intelligence Service, Law Enforcement, and Government Officials; over 160 Professors, over 190 9/11 Survivors and Family Members; over 100 Entertainment and Media Professionals; over 60 Pilots and Aviation Professionals, and over 250 Engineers and Architects.

With the corporate media blackout of alternative explanations for the 9/11 attacks, the internet is perhaps the only remaining medium of free speech left to our movement for voicing our perception of the official story's inadequacy. This fact should in itself indicate this perception's possible credibility. The internet is a global communications medium that exists for use by all people, and is used largely by well-informed, well-intentioned citizens, among whom we of the 9/11 Truth movement number, responsibly exercising thereby our First Amendment rights of free speech and free association.

It has recently come to the attention of a number of members of the 9/11 Truth community that several individuals from neoconservative organizations are associating the 9/11 Truth Movement and 9/11 Truth websites with violence and terrorism. Among them are Mark Weitzman of the Simon Wiesthenthal Center , and Bruce Hoffman, former RAND Corporation director, both of whom spoke at the November 6, 2007 hearing of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Intelligence, Information Sharing, and Terrorism Risk Assessment.

This is a dangerous, irresponsible, and absurd association. The 9/11 Truth movement is made up of dedicated, patriotic grassroots citizens who want credible answers, and are doing independent research on their own time at their own expense. 9/11 Truth websites are educational, promote independent thinking, condone neither violence nor terrorism, and are openly working for a truly independent official investigation of the attacks of 9/11/2001.

These goals are often stated on our websites. For example, these goals are stated in the mission statements on our local Greater Seattle 9/11 Truth websites, www.seattle911visibilityproject.org, www.911truthseattle.org, and www.wearechangeseattle.org.

Members of the 9/11 Truth community would be happy to meet with you, at your convenience, to discuss the 9/11 Truth movement in person, and to provide documentation for the public's justified skepticism of the official story for you and your staff to evaluate for yourselves.

We, the undersigned, call upon you to do all that you can to promote a truthful and thorough response to the questions that have been raised concerning the events of 9/11/2001.

Thank your for your consideration, and we hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely;
